To use Google Maps on your website, you’ll need a valid API key with the required APIs enabled. Please note that this guide applies only if you’re using Estatebud Connect. If you’re using the legacy WordPress plugin, contact our team and we’ll be happy to help.
Create a Google Cloud account
-
Go to the Google Cloud Console.
-
Sign in with your Google account (or create one if needed).
-
Accept the terms and create a new Google Cloud project when prompted.
-
Give the project a name and select a billing account (billing is required, even for free-tier usage).
Generate an API key
-
In the Google Cloud Console, open APIs & Services → Credentials.
-
Click Create credentials and select API key.
-
Copy the API key and go back to the Estatebud plugin settings, then add the key. If Estatebud is creating or maintaining your website, you may also share the key directly with our team.
Enable the Map Tiles API
-
Go to APIs & Services → Library.
-
Search for Map Tiles API.
-
Open it and click Enable.
Restrict the API key to your domain
Restricting your API key helps prevent unauthorized use by other websites. We recommend that you complete this additional step to ensure accurate billing volumes.
-
In APIs & Services → Credentials, click on your API key.
-
Under Application restrictions, select Websites.
-
Click Add and enter your domain, for example:
-
https://example.com/* -
https://www.example.com/*
-
-
Under API restrictions, choose Restrict key and select Map Tiles API.
-
Click Save.
